Pearls of Wisdom from Therapist_in_NYC

Instead of asking myself how I'm feeling, I now ask myself "How well am I accepting how I'm feeling?"

Instead of asking myself "What am I supposed to do?" I started asking myself "What would the healed version of me do?"

"I've tried enough and I don't need to try harder. I need to try different." Because exhaustion is never a signal to do more. It's a signal to do something else, even if (and especially if) it is radically different.

"There is something much more powerful than my mind running the show. What I can't control isn't my responsibility to control."

"The world is either a scary place where some good things happen; or a good place where some scary things happen. I get to choose."

"If my brain is naturally wired to pick up on the pan of the world, I may be one of the people meant to help heal it."

"When I don't know how something will turn out, I don't need to predict, catastrophize, or over-control. I can step into maybe-land and live there for a while, until the story unfolds."
